Making our Communities Stronger – One Vote at a Time

On National Vote Early Day and every day, DoorDash is committed to doing its part to build stronger and more equitable communities as part of our mission to empower local economies.   Our local communities are strongest when all voices are heard and every eligible person has the opportunity to voice their opinion. Earlier this year, we encouraged Dashers to check their registration status and, today, we encourage every eligible voter to check their registration status, vote, and to remind their friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues to do so as well.

This year, DoorDash is partnering with When We All Vote on Vote Early Day – a nonpartisan movement of businesses, nonprofits, election administrators, and others working to ensure everyone has access to the tools they need and access to cast their vote. As part of our partnership, we’re also proud to support When We All Vote’s Vote Loud campaign aimed at empowering students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country to take a leading role in voter registration, education, and mobilization efforts on their campuses and their surrounding communities.

According to data from the Campus Vote Project, there was a 10.6% decrease in HBCU student voting between the 2012 and 2016 General Elections due to various barriers specifically inhibiting this group.. Thanks to the grassroots advocacy efforts of organizations like When We All Vote, there was a 13% increase in HBCU student voting between the 2016 and 2020 General Elections. We at DoorDash want to be a part of removing barriers and uplifting all voices. This partnership will help further the mission of When We All Vote by engaging the next generation of voters and providing them with information on why, how, and when to vote.

“As a proud HBCU alum, I know how passionate and motivated HBCU students are to create real change in our communities,” said Stephanie L. Young, Executive Director of When We All Vote. “Vote Loud is our way of ensuring these students are not only empowered to make their voices heard in shaping the future of this country, but also understand the role they play in creating the democracy they want to see.”

In previous years, we partnered with NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, leveraged our platform to provide voting resources to millions of customers, merchants, and Dashers during election cycles, and promoted more equal representation through participation in the U.S. Census. We believe voting access should be protected and we have opposed measures that make it harder for voters to vote

Communities are stronger when all our voices are heard, and we are proud to partner with Civic Nation and When We All Vote to help ensure that voters have the information they need to vote this election season.
