Today, we’re excited to introduce Package Pickup on DoorDash, a new service that unlocks even more convenience for consumers and provides the ultimate life hack for returning packages. With Package Pickup, consumers can request a Dasher to pick up their prepaid packages from their home and drop them off at their local carrier, including UPS, FedEx, and USPS. Just in time for the post-holiday returns season—the busiest time of year for package returns—consumers can have peace of mind knowing there is now a convenient and seamless option to return their packages without having to leave the comfort of home.

Here’s how Package Pickup works:

  1. Select the Packages hub on the top of the DoorDash homepage and select the carrier (i.e. UPS, USPS, FedEx) that corresponds to the package(s) you’re sending. Alternatively, you can type “package” into your search bar for easy access.

  2. Get your packages ready— up to 5 total per delivery! Attach a prepaid shipping label, or if you have a shipping QR code, you can send the QR code directly to your Dasher in the DoorDash app, no printer or box for the item required.

  3. Request a package pickup. A Dasher will be offered and assigned to pick up your package(s) ASAP.

  4. Your Dasher will send you a confirmation photo after dropping off your package(s) to the designated store.

For a flat fee of $5 or $3 for DashPass members, consumers can get up to 5 packages picked up and dropped off in the same order. To celebrate the launch of Package Pickup, consumers can get their first package pickup for free in January!* For those looking to avoid the headache of post-holiday returns while meeting retailers’ shortening return windows, the timing has never been better to try the service.

“We are excited to introduce Package Pickup as a seamless and efficient offering for those looking to make returns during the busy post-holiday season and throughout the year,” said Gagan Gupta, Product Manager at DoorDash. “The extensibility of our platform allows us to power all local commerce and local delivery needs, with this newest offering enabling us to meet time-starved shoppers wherever they are.”

Consumers nationwide can take advantage of the service, with Package Pickup reaching 95% of Americans. With Package Pickup, we’re leveraging our existing logistics infrastructure to meet a new use case for consumers and simplify the package returns process. As retailers continue to find ways to meet their customers’ evolving needs, we hope to make ecommerce shopping easier by streamlining the returns process for consumers.

We’ll continue to explore new ways to offer more convenience for consumers through our on-demand platform offerings, while empowering Dashers with additional chances to earn on DoorDash. We hope to introduce even more ways DoorDash can give consumers time back in their day while accessing the best of their local neighborhoods.
