Since launching flowers just one year ago, DoorDash has delivered over 1.2M orders from flower shops. This past Mother’s Day week, DoorDash delivered over 200,000 orders from flower shops and over 20,000 balloons. Mother’s Day this year turned out to be DoorDash’s top sales day ever for non-restaurant verticals and is the most popular floral delivery day of the year.
As DoorDash continues to meet customers’ desire to get everything delivered in minutes, not hours or days, it’s no surprise that consumers went all in on celebrating Mother’s Day and the mother figures in their lives. 64% of people who ordered from flower shops on DoorDash during Mother’s Day weekend placed orders on the day of (5/14/2023) with mixed-color roses being the number 1 selling bouquet.
Additionally, millions of moms got their fresh flowers from their favorite local flower shops as over 30% of flower deliveries came from small businesses. Flower delivery on DoorDash is now available in all 50 states with local small businesses accounting for over 40% of the florists on the DoorDash platform. Both local and national florists of all sizes have gravitated to DoorDash because of our flexibility, increased service footprint, and lower costs and fees. Here’s more from Kevin McCarthy, President and Chief Operating Officer of Family Flowers:
“With DoorDash, the fact that so many people are new customers who have never tried our services before, it’s great to be out there and be able to showcase our brands to a huge audience… it’s great that with DoorDash we don’t have to wait for our delivery van to get back for our next delivery. It allows us to move very quickly with the volume of Dashers that are out there and being able to get them to people even faster than on our own trucks in many cases.”
The trend towards convenience only goes in one direction as consumers want faster and easier ways to get everything from floral arrangements and food delivery to gifts delivered ASAP – especially on significant holidays like Mother’s Day. We’re thrilled to offer more ways for consumers to connect with loved ones while delivering delightful experiences and supporting local businesses in their neighborhoods.
It’s not too late to discover and gift bouquets on DoorDash whether it’s for a belated Mother’s Day or upcoming holidays like Graduation, Father’s Day, and special occasions.
