League of American Bicyclists and DoorDash joined forces last year to advocate for safer streets and provide Dashers and other road users the information they need to keep themselves and others safe

DoorDash, in partnership with the League of American Bicyclists, today released a series of new videos to help keep Dashers and other road users – especially those who use bikes – safe on our streets.

The jointly-produced videos were released to mark National Ride A Bike Day and the start of National Bike Month. The videos cover a wide range of topics including how to ride a bike safely on the streets, how to be a responsible road user when driving, and how to park a bike safely, securely and responsibly. The goal is to provide Dashers and other road users with the information they need to keep themselves and others safe while on the streets.

The new safety videos are an important element of the partnership between DoorDash and the League that was announced last year. The League and DoorDash share a common goal of facilitating bike-friendly streets, accelerating the adoption of bikes and e-bikes, and pursuing initiatives that help keep vulnerable road users safer, such as increased investment in human-centric infrastructure.

“It’s great to see DoorDash and the League of American Bicyclists show their commitment to the safety of Dashers, especially ones like myself who deliver by bike,” said Mozeik Perkins, a Dasher from New York and a member of the New York Dasher Advisory Council. “Dashing is better when everyone sharing the road feels safe, and I know these videos will help me feel more confident while out dashing knowing that my safety is a priority.”

“At the League, we believe life is better for everybody when more people can get around by bike and education is a huge component of making bicycling a safe and real option for transportation for more people,” said Bill Nesper, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists. “We’re thrilled to work with DoorDash to make our streets safer and welcoming to people biking by updating and expanding our library of biking and driving education videos.”

“Safety is at the core of everything we do, and we’re constantly working to better protect and support our community,” said Julian Crowley, DoorDash’s Director of Trust & Safety Communications. “The goal of these videos is to empower Dashers and give them the information they need to stay safe on the road. We look forward to continuing to work with the League of American Bicyclists to make streets safer and more accessible for everyone.”

The videos and partnership build on DoorDash’s existing safety efforts which include the in-app Dasher safety toolkit SafeDash launched last year, our partnership with the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives, and our dedicated 24/7 Trust and Safety team. We’ve also supported innovative street safety policy initiatives, like the 25 x 25 Campaign in New York. Additionally, in 2019 DoorDash became the first in the industry to offer occupational accident insurance at no cost to Dashers and with no-opt-in required, helping support Dashers if they’re injured while delivering on our platform.
